CO₂ values for your masterbatch products

Many of you have probably noticed: with our quotation and order confirmation, you receive the CO₂ footprint of your masterbatch directly and transparently.

Based on data from the 2019 baseline, we are reducing our emissions in stages by 90 per cent by 2050. The first milestone in Scopes 1 and 2 is the reduction of emissions that we can directly influence ourselves, such as direct emissions from our facilities and vehicle fleet and indirect emissions from external suppliers like electricity, heating and cooling.

We aim to achieve a 46 per cent reduction in these emissions by 2030.

Scope 3 covers indirect emissions that Lifocolor cannot control. This includes emissions associated with the production of our raw materials, emissions from the transport of our goods, emissions related to the manufacture of capital goods we purchase, and more.

  • We calculate the footprint of our greenhouse gas emissions - the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) as well as our Product Carbon Footprints (PCF) - using the methodology described in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.

  • In doing so, we assess the CO₂ footprint of our products on a cradle-to-gate basis. This includes all Scope 1, Scope 2 and upstream Scope 3 emissions (including raw materials, capital goods, inbound transport, energy, upstream fuels, emissions, production processes and waste, etc.).

  • We calculate either using the currently known supplier data or by drawing on material databases published by manufacturers or associations.

  • A PDF summarises the calculation and provides guidance for you.

  • Our understanding of sustainability, together with our commitment to accuracy, progress and monitoring, has led to a joint project with the Grolman Group. Together, we have committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and thereby contributing to the success of the Paris Agreement. The project is being implemented in accordance with the requirements of the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi). Here you can find out more about our net-zero project.
